We will pick you up from your hotel bright and early at 6:00am, and transport you by bus to the starting point of the Classic Inca Trail at Km. 82. As we journey towards the trailhead, we will pass through the picturesque towns of Chinchero, Urubamba, and Ollantaytambo.
The first leg of our 4 day Inca Trail adventure will take us along the winding Urubamba River, with breathtaking views of the snow-capped mountain Veronica (5,900 meters above sea level) in the distance. From there, we will make our way to the Llactapata archaeological site through the lush Cusi Chaca river valley, eventually arriving at the village of Wayllabamba (3,000 meters above sea level) where we will set up camp for the night on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
After a filling breakfast, we will continue our hike on the Inca Trail towards Machu Picchu, slowly making our way up to the Warmiwañusca Pass (4,200 meters above sea level) through a stunning Queñua forest.
As we ascend, we will be treated to breathtaking views of the Andean landscape, eventually arriving at Llulluchapampa (3,750 meters above sea level), a picturesque pampa at the foot of the Abra.
Upon reaching the Warmiwañusca Pass, we will begin our descent into the Pacaymayo Valley (3,620 meters above sea level), where we will set up camp for the night. Here, we can marvel at the impressive construction of the Inca Trail.
In the afternoon, we will have the chance to explore the surrounding area and take a well-deserved break on our journey along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
After a nourishing breakfast, we will embark on our hike along the Inca Trail, which is known for its stunning beauty and numerous archaeological sites such as Runkurakay. From this vantage point, we will have a breathtaking view of the surrounding area.
We will then make our way up the pass of the same name (3,800 meters above sea level), and continue on to visit the ancient sites of Sayacmarca, Phuyupatamarca, and Wiñaywayna, connected by a stunning white granite Inca path through the lush vegetation of the forest.
As we journey along the trail, we will marvel at the incredible balance achieved by the Incas in their environment. We will stop for lunch at the beautiful campsite of ChaquiCocha, located near the archaeological site of Wiñaywayna (2,700 meters above sea level) on the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu.
This day, we will wake up before dawn at 4:00am, have a quick breakfast, and start our hike at 5:00am. As we bid farewell to the porters who will return to Cusco with all the camping equipment, we will begin our hike through the dense, tropical jungle vegetation towards the Sun Gate (Inti Punku).
From this vantage point, we will have an unforgettable panoramic view of the iconic Inca Citadel. We will arrive at Machu Picchu around 7:00am, where we will have a guided tour of 2 hours to visit the most important sites in the ancient city. After the tour, we will have free time to explore Machu Picchu on our own.
When it is time, we will take a bus down to the town of Aguas Calientes, where you can enjoy a tasty lunch at one of the many restaurants in the area. In the afternoon, at 4:12 PM, we will board the train back to Ollantaytambo and then travel by car to Cusco. We will arrive in Cusco around 8:00 PM, marking the end of our Inca Trail to Machu Picchu adventure and the transfer to your respective hotels.
